Do you ever wish you had an easier way to give your passwords, personal documents, and banking information to criminals? Are you still running Windows XP and/or Office 2003? If you are, your dream will be coming true very soon. Microsoft will officially end its support for both the operating system and its much popular office productivity suite in just 2 weeks on April 8th, 2014. After that there will be no new security updates, non-security hotfixes, free or paid assisted support options or online technical content updates. Hackers find new ways to exploit security "holes" in operating systems and software such as the Windows XP and Office all the time. An unsupported version of Windows will no longer receive software updates from Windows Update. These include security updates that can help protect your PC from harmful viruses, spyware, and other malicious software which can steal your personal information. Windows Update also installs the latest software updates to improve the reliability of Windows—new drivers for your hardware and more. After April 8th, 2014, un-patched Windows XP systems will become a main target for hackers and can very easily be compromised by a nefarious hacker.

So what can I do? If your current PC meets the system requirements for Windows 7 or Windows 8, you can upgrade your system to bring you up to date with a current operating system . If your PC does not meet system requirements, consider purchasing a new PC with Windows 7 or 8. Miller Computers can help you either way! We make what could take hours with a chance of losing data if your not careful happen magically! (Well, not really...but it will feel that way.) You will have the latest updates of the operating system of your choosing as well as other software such as Flash Player, JAVA, Adobe PDF Reader and more. All your pictures, music, videos, and other data files will be backed up and restored to your new, rebuilt, or refreshed computer. We will make the transition as seamless as possible.
